Features Solar Impulse Cockpit VR
This app takes you inside the cockpit of the Solar Impulse 2, designed to fly day and night using only the power of the sun, demonstrating the future of clean technologies.
The Solar Impulse 2 is flown and created by Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg and supported by the Solar Impulse team in Switzerland and the Mission Control Center in Monaco.
The Google Cardboard app provides an audio description of what you are looking at in the cockpit, based on the direction in which you look.
As you look at the front, you hear a description of the instrumentation you are seeing.
As you turn to the left, you hear a description of the controls on that side of the cockpit.
As you continue around to look at the back, you hear about the oxygen system.
As you continue around to reach the right side, you hear about the removable door.
This version was developed by members of the Impact Lab in the Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University, with imagery provided by the Solar Impulse team, and used with permission.
With limited opportunities for testing on different Android platforms, the developers invite constructive feedback on the experience on different phones and versions of the Android OS.
